"Like a breakup text from my girlfriend" - Nicky Rod reacts to Gordon Ryan's "foggy" $2 million jiu-jitsu challenge to him and Craig Jones
Nicky Rod had recently called out Gordon Ryan, offering to put $1 million against his $1 million in a winner-takes-all match. Ryan responded to the callout by uploading a post on social media, listing several stipulations to be followed by him and Craig Jones in order for the two individuals to secure the fight.
In a recent interaction with the media, Rod spoke about Ryan's response to the challenge. He claimed that instead of a simple 'yes' or 'no' response, Gordon issued a vague message with unusual conditions.
"He kinda gave me a blanket statement. Yeah, so after CJI, I bet $1 million against his $1 million that I would beat him in competition. He kinda kicked back with a long weird post saying, 'Alright, I will compete against you if Craig [Jones] competes with me on the same day, and if my stomach doesn't hurt and if it's at my rules and my time limits.' It's like, let's just have a match. My callout was plain, simple, easy to understand. And then he posts this, it was lamost like a break-up text from my girlfriend, like super-long drawn out message with all these stipulations. It's like, it's kind of a 'yes', it's kind of a 'no'. I don't really know. My callout was nice and clear, his rebuttal was not so clear. It was quite foggy."

Jones had recently hosted a tournament called 'Craig Jones Invitational (CJI)', which witnessed participation from several prominent jiu-jitsu athletes.
Rod competed in the 80kg category in the tournament and emerged as the winner. After the contest, he hailed himself as the best grappler in the world and proceeded to call out Ryan for a showdown.
"Mr. Gordon Ryan, cause I know it in my bones that I'm the absolute best grappler on the planet. So let's do this, my $1 million against your $1 million, winner takes all."
