Limb-different star Jake Peacock set to face Japanese veteran Shinji Suzuki at ONE 169: Atlanta
Limb-different superstar Jake Peacock is headed to the promotion's talent-jammed ONE 169: Atlanta card on November 8. The English-born Canadian takes on Japanese warrior Shinji Suzuki in a bantamweight Muay Thai contest.
After a dominant performance in his promotional bow against Kohei Shinjo, the warrior, who had his right forearm amputated since early childhood, is ready to electrify the watching world in American primetime inside the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.
Peacock put his size and reach advantage to good use at ONE Friday Fights 58 in April, forcing the Japanese brawler to fight off his back foot while he went to town with his unique arsenal. After letting loose upstairs, 'The One' peppered his foe with sniper-like body kicks for large durations of the second stanza.
Despite taking a huge advantage into the final round, the English-Canadian refused to slow down. Just seconds into the canto, he busted Shinjo with a stinging left counter. From there, the limb-different martial enjoyed plenty of success at every exchange to earn a well-deserved unanimous decision win.
With momentum on his side, Peacock is fired up to continue his ascend on the grandest stage of combat sports at ONE 169: Atlanta. However, Suzuki won't let that happen all too easily.
The Fujimakick Muay Thai Gym athlete looked good the last time out, impressing all three judges in his back-and-forth duel alongside Han Zi Hao at ONE 166: Qatar. Though he dropped to a knockout loss in his debut against Suablack Tor Pran49, the striking specialist showed plenty of grit until the unfortunate ending.
Tickets for ONE 169: Atlanta are available on Ticketmaster. The promotion's third on-ground spectacle goes down inside the State Farm Arena live in U.S. primetime on November 8.
