Lito Adiwang on Jarred Brooks’ biggest advantage over Gustavo Balart: “Better lateral movement”
Highly regarded ONE Championship strawweight 'Thunder Kid' Lito Adiwang of the Philippines has a firsthand account of facing former strawweight king 'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks, and believes the American has one distinct advantage over upcoming opponent Gustavo Balart next week.
Adiwang welcomed Brooks to the world's largest martial arts organization at ONE: NextGen III in November 2021. The Filipino hurt Brooks early with his striking, but the American weathered the storm and went on to win via second-round submission.
That being said, Adiwang has enough ring time with Brooks to make an educated analysis of the American's skills, and believes 'The Monkey God' to have one massive advantage over his upcoming foe.
He told Sportskeeda MMA in an exclusive interview:
"Brooks can still work his way around Balart’s offense once this fight becomes a striking exchange. Brooks has better lateral movement than Balart."
Today, Brooks is the former ONE strawweight MMA world champion and the current no.1-ranked contender for the strawweight throne.
He is out to reclaim the gold, and at ONE Fight Night 24 on Prime Video, the American will get the chance to do just that.
