Lito Adiwang says Jarred Brooks will get frustrated if he can’t finish Joshua Pacio: “He tends to fade a bit”
ONE Championship strawweight MMA standout and former Team Lakay athlete 'Thunder Kid' Lito Adiwang of the Philippines is confident former stablemate 'The Passion' Joshua Pacio will get the job done against archnemesis 'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks when the two attempt to unify the division in their next encounter.
Brooks, who recently won the ONE interim strawweight MMA gold, is on a collision course with rival Pacio, the 'regular' champion of the division. Of course, a world title unification bout is in the offering, and it's a matter of when, not if, these two run it back in the Circle.
Adiwang is keeping a close eye on this matchup and believes his close friend Pacio has the upper hand.
Speaking to Sportskeeda MMA in an exclusive interview, 'Thunder Kid' said:
"I think Joshua’s edge is that if he is well trained and he gets his weight cut right so that he’s not drained and has a clear mind while fighting, he can fight for points and go the distance to earn a decision win. He can also find his openings to finish the fight. His level change in the game is really something else. He’s not too eager to finish a fight if the opportunity is not really there."
Adiwang added:
"Meanwhile, Jarred’s a bit like that. He would have a big burst if he sees an opportunity to finish, but if it doesn’t complete the job, he tends to fade a bit. That’s their difference. Joshua can have that burst, but he can control his pace well in the fight."
Lito Adiwang says Jarred Brooks' wrestling is troublesome for Joshua Pacio: "I think Joshua will have a difficult time"
'Thunder Kid' Lito Adiwang advises his former Team Lakay stablemate 'The Passion' Joshua Pacio to fortify his wrestling game because it's Jarred Brooks' greatest strength and most dangerous asset as an opponent.
Speaking to Sportskeeda MMA, the Filipino star said:
"I think Joshua will have a difficult time with Jarred’s quickness on shooting for takedowns. Striking is also another area because Jarred has an unorthodox style. That’s where I think Joshua will have a difficult time."
