Lito Adiwang shares the unique aspect of Jarred Brooks' elite grappling: "He can shift his weight in a split second"
Jarred Brooks has set himself apart since signing with ONE Championship largely thanks to his grappling ability.
The American fighter has been able to use his wrestling and constant pressure to implement his will against his fellow contenders in the strawweight division.
At ONE Fight Night 24, his best skill set is sure to be put to the test when he comes up against an opponent that brings a similar strength to the table.
Gustavo Balart is a highly credentialed wrestler who previously represented Cuba at the Olympics.
Before Brooks looks to go head-to-head in the main event on August 2, a former opponent of his spoke about the intricacies of his game.
Lito Adiwang came up short when facing 'The Monkey God' and recently spoke in an interview with Sportskeeda MMA about how impressed he was by the control that Brooks was able to have on the ground:
"There were times when I was trying to get up, try to push myself off the ground using my legs, but he shifted his weight and went for my head. So he was pinning my head down that I've never experienced before.
He went on to add:
"I realized then that this was his technique, he's a really high-level grappler, he can really shift his weight in a split second during a match."
Jarred Brooks can showcase more of his game in this fight
When Jarred Brooks won the strawweight MMA world championship in his first encounter with Joshua Pacio, he showcased more of his overall game.
The champion proved difficult to takedown so his challenger looked to implement his always-improving striking game in order to get his hand raised.
ONE Fight Night 24 may follow a close pattern for Brooks if he's unable to beat Balart at his own game.
Emerging victorious at Lumpinee Stadium will likely require Brooks to prove that he is the better mixed martial artist if he's going to become the interim champion.
ONE Fight Night 24 will air live in US Primetime, free of charge for Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.
