Luke Lessei "ready to take on the world" after TKO finish of Cody Jerome at ONE Fight Night 27
Luke Lessei produced his first TKO finish in ONE Championship last Friday when he stopped promotional newcomer Cody Jerome in their catchweight Muay Thai battle at ONE Fight Night 27, which took place inside the Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Lessei showed a new calm and calculated approach during the match, which allowed him to find Jerome's body with vicious kicks that crumbled him in the opening round.
During the post-fight interview with Mitch Chilson inside the ring, 'The Chef' credited his new team, Beacon Mixed Martial Arts, for equipping him with a new mindset and techniques.
The American striking sensation also gave a special shoutout to his mental performance coach for helping him build a strong mental game, as he stated:
"My two coaches over here at Beacon have unlocked a new "Chef" and we're cooking different recipes, man. I don't know. The confidence was at an all-time high. I have a mental performance coach, Jerry Walsh, and it's like I have a bullet-proof mind right now and I'm ready to take on the world after today."
Luke Lessei bags the additional $50,000 performance bonus with TKO win over Cody Jerome
This victory against the Canadian was the perfect start for the 28-year-old in this new calendar year, as he notched his second triumph under the world's largest martial arts organization. What made this win even sweeter for Luke Lessei was the additional $50,000 performance bonus he received from ONE Championship Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong, which was awarded to him during the post-fight interview.
Lessei joined the newly crowned ONE interim atomweight MMA world champion Denice Zamboanga as the recipient of the coveted bonus.
