Mackenzie Dern gives immediate backstage reaction to submitting Amanda Ribas in rematch with daughter Moa by her sideĀ
UFC strawweight contender Mackenzie Dern has shared her thoughts on the recent victory over Amanda Ribas at UFC Vegas 101. After the bout, Dern was making her way backstage with her daugher Moa, when she spoke about the fight and her emotions at the time.
Dern mentioned the UFC rankings and credited her opponent for being "tough".
"Man, I feel amazing. I wanted to show my improvement with takedowns and striking. And of course, keep going on my own. My records, my submissions, to be going up the ranks. No. 6 [Ribas vs.] no. 8 [Dern] and still get the submission with a tough opponent like Amanda. It's amazing. I feel great. And I have Moa with me here. Woo!"

Dern and Ribas went toe-to-toe against each other in a five-round strawweight clash at UFC Vegas 101. The fight headlined the card, which was UFC's first event of 2025. The event was held on Jan. 11 at the UFC APEX Facility in Enterprise, Nevada.
Dern and Ribas had a history before their encounter at UFC Vegas 101. The two individuals shared the octagon once before in Oct. 2019. That night, Ribas took home the victory via unanimous decision with 30-27 on all three scorecards.
But Dern managed to turn things around on Jan. 11 as she trapped her opponent in an armbar and submitted her in the closing seconds of the third round. With the victory, Dern now has two back-to-back wins in the promotion.
Irish superstar Conor McGregor also took notice of the strawweight clash and went on social media to shower praise on the two fighters.
"Great fight! Awesome showcase! Mackenzie Dern, Amanda Ribas, an excellent rivalry between the two Brazilians! So good! 1 a piece now, I would definitely love to see this trilogy!"
