"Made me evolve" - 'Old dog' Aung La N Sang says he has new tricks up his sleeve for Shamil Erdogan

Aung La N Sang believes an old dog can still learn some new tricks. At 39 years old, the former ONE middleweight and light heavyweight MMA world champion accepts that he's nearing the twilight of his decorated career.

While 'Father Time' is slowly creeping in, it doesn't mean Aung La will just put down his shield and just wither away. In fact, 'The Burmese Python's venom has actually gotten more potent with age.

As far as Aung La is concerned, his ONE 168: Denver showdown with his younger and undefeated foe Shamil Erdogan will be the perfect opportunity to showcase his full evolution.

Speaking on Episode 1 of his Road to Denver series on his personal YouTube page, Aung La teased about unleashing his full capabilities on Sept. 6 at Ball Arena.

"I think it will be about 16 months by the time I fight. So this layoff has made me grown, made me evolve. I'm excited to show the fans what I've been working on."

By the looks of it, Myanmar's hero has also been shoring up his grappling, which has proven to be his Achilles heel in the past.

Aung La N Sang says Shamil Erdogan's undefeated record does not matter

Nine opponents have tried to best Shamil Erdogan in professional MMA, but none have succeeded so far. Aung La, though, plans to take away the 'O' in the Turkish powerhouse's pristine record.

'The Burmese Python' told The AllStar:

"I have a big task ahead of me, you know. It's not an easy fight, it's a tough fight. But he's not the first undefeated [fighter] I fought. He's not the first strong undefeated [fighter] that I'm gonna beat, you know. So it's not a big deal."
