Magomed Ankalaev blasts "liar" Alex Pereira for claiming he declined light heavyweight title shot: "I'm gonna make you eat your words"
Magomed Ankalaev recently sounded off on Alex Pereira after claiming that he declined a light heavyweight title shot. He noted that he wasn't offered a fight against the Brazilian and blasted the light heavyweight champion for spreading misinformation.
The Dagestani is scheduled to fight Aleksandar Rakic at UFC 308 on Oct. 26, while 'Poatan' is scheduled to defend his title against No. 8 ranked Khalil Rountree at UFC 307 on Oct. 5. The timing of both bouts caught the MMA community by surprise as many believed Pereira vs. Ankalaev was a certainty after their most recent performances.
After 'Poatan' made his claims regarding the reason why a bout didn't materialize, the No.2 ranked light heavyweight took to his X account to respond. Ankalaev tagged Mick Maynard and UFC CEO Dana White and mentioned that he plans to make Pereira pay for spreading rumors about him turning down a title fight. He wrote:
"@AlexPereiraUFC you are a liar. You said I turned [fight] down against you. @danawhite @Mickmaynard2 never offer me a fight against you. I'm gonna make you eat your word after I handle my business."

Magomed Ankalaev takes aim at Jamahal Hill
In addition to putting Alex Pereira on blast for claims he made for why a fight didn't materialize, Magomed Ankalaev took aim at Jamahal Hill and noted that he hasn't forgotten about him either.
The Dagestani has been putting the light heavyweight division on notice through his tweets as he disclosed that he plans to take care of Aleksandar Rakic at UFC 307. Ankalaev took to his X account and claimed that Hill is the backup for his bout against Rakic and plans to settle his differences with 'Sweet Dreams' should he have to step in on short notice. He wrote:
"Jamahal Hill, time to eat your words. Get ready for Abu Dhabi. You're officially the backup."
