“Make men more handsome” - Mansur Malachiev beams with pride flaunting the battle scars he got against Bokang Masunyane
Fifth-ranked ONE Championship strawweight MMA contender Mansur Malachiev of Russia cruised to a comprehensive unanimous decision victory over no.2-ranked 'Little Giant' Bokang Masunyane at ONE Fight Night 25 on Prime Video last weekend.
But that doesn't mean he didn't face adversity.
Masunyane gave everything he had, and Malachiev's face has worn the battle scars. The 32-year-old Industrial Fighters representative says it's all part of the game, and makes him look more 'handsome', despite the wear.
Speaking to veteran reporter Nick Atkin of Bangkok Post, Malachiev says he always does whatever it takes to achieve victory, even if it means marking up his face.
The 32-year-old Russian star said:
"But I was coming for the victory, I was going to win, and here I am. All those scars only make men more handsome, and that’s our job. Thanks, Allah, I did it."
After the win, Malachiev is expected to move up the rankings, having defeated the no.2-ranked contender. The Russian is looking for a world title shot for his next fight.
ONE Fight Night 25: Nicolas vs. Eersel II on Prime Video took place live from the historic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, last Saturday, October 5, 2024.
Fans in the United States and Canada can catch all the action via replay on-demand with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.
Mansur Malachiev calls out Jarred Brooks with a dig at American: "An empty barrel that makes a lot of noise"
It didn't take long for Mansur Malachiev to shift his focus to a potential showdown with American star 'The Monkey God' Jarred Brooks, who is also the ONE interim strawweight MMA world champion.
Malachiev has been going back and forth with Brooks on social media for months, and now the two could be on a collision course.
He told Nick Atkin:
"Because for me, he is just a talker and not really a doer. So let Brooks prove that he’s not just talking and he’s not just an empty barrel that makes a lot of noise but he will show me he takes action. It will be nice to meet in Qatar in December, but let’s see how it goes."
