Manel Kape goes all out against Alex Perez after UFC San Antonio fight cancellation - ‘Your DNA is an abomination’
Manel Kape was scheduled to compete in his biggest UFC test to date against Alex Perez. But when his opponent pulled out due to injury, the flyweight made his feelings known in a wild post on Instagram.
'Starboy' came into the octagon with extremely high expectations sporting an impressive 15-4 record, with the majority of his success coming in Rizin. One fight before signing with the UFC, the 125er won gold with the Asian promotion when he earned a TKO stoppage over Kai Asakura early into the second round.
In a post on social media, Manel Kape aired his frustration at Alex Perez and insisted that the American's DNA was 'an abomination' after hearing the unfortunate news that his fight wouldn't go ahead.
"Unfortunately, my opponent just came to the weigh-in to pose and take a picture! Inside me, I felt that he would not have the courage to face me, our energies were totally different and I knew that he did not want to be here... But I was surprised to see him getting on the bus and I really thought we were going to fight.
"We arrived at the Arena, warmed up, turned on my hands, and only three fights left for our fight, he just gave up! Your DNA is an abomination. Unlike you, my DNA is from fearless warriors... Cowards die several times before their death."
After a lightning start to life in the UFC, Alex Perez has fallen under tough times and is enduring a two-fight losing streak with both losses coming in the first round. Although he is still 6-3 since his promotional debut, a number of defeats could see him having to find a new home in the sport.
Manel Kape's UFC record
After enduring tough back-to-back losses to both Alexandre Pantoja and Matheus Nicolau to get his UFC career underway, Manel Kape has managed to find his feet in the octagon.
To cut his bad form short, the Angolan athlete scored a beautiful flying knee and subsequent knockout of Ode Osbourne at UFC 265, kicking his recent surge into motion.
He followed that performance with another stoppage, this time over the gritty Zhalgas Zhumagulov. Despite spending a year out of action, Kape fought his way to a unanimous decision victory against David Dvorak, extending his winning run to three and setting him on the path to a top-five ranking in the division.
