The two lightweights have been involved in a feud for quite some time now, which started with a backstage altercation at UFC 276.

In a recent interview with MMA on Point, Chandler addressed the clash between him and Poirier:

"He said some things about me. It sparked me to say some things about him. And then it's just been a domino effect since then. Cause it started out so cordial and then it became, "Okay, maybe I don't like that guy as much as I thought I would.""

However, Chandler asserted that he still holds respect for his opponent and intends to fight in good spirits at UFC 281.The former Bellator champ said:

But the truth remains you know. I fight him November 12. I have a ton of respect for him. I will be a good sport. I will shake his hand...win, lose or draw. And tell him that he is the man...he is the man no matter what. So, it's all good."

Justin Gaethje predicts Michael Chandler vs Dustin Poirier

UFC lightweight contender Justin Gaethje recently gave his take on how the fight between Michael Chandler and Dustin Poirier would outplay at UFC 281.

'The Highlight' stated that he expects Poirier to win against 'Iron' in similar fashion as he had defeated the former Bellator champ last year.

Putting forth his opinion, the 33-year-old said:

"I think it's going to be a great fight. My initial thought is that Poirier will beat Chandler similar to the way I beat him, but we'll see. The biggest factor will probably be if Poirier can stop Chandler's wrestling. If Chandler gets him down a couple times, that'll change the way the fight's gonna play out, so I don't know. I don't think I would want to put money on that fight."
