Mayssa Bastos eager to submit Danielle Kelly at ONE Fight Night 24: “I’m always looking for the submission”
Mayssa Bastos claimed she's "always looking for the submission" heading into her world title shot at ONE Fight Night 24.
In March, Bastos started her ONE Championship tenure with a unanimous decision win against Kanae Yamada. On Friday, August 2, the Brazilian returns in the ONE Fight Night 24 co-main event and looks to dethrone Danielle Kelly of her ONE atomweight submission grappling world title.
Before facing Kelly, in an interview with Sportskeeda, Bastos discussed one of the toughest matches of her grappling career. The multiple-time BJJ world champion had this to say about competing against the ONE atomweight submission grappling queen:
"I’m going to fight and hopefully I can get the win and the submission. Yeah, for sure. I’m always looking for the submission."
Danielle Kelly vs. Mayssa Bastos is one of several intriguing matchups taking place inside the legendary Lumpinee Stadium for ONE Fight Night 24. Friday's event in Bangkok, Thailand can be seen live and for free by American and Canadian viewers with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.

Is Mayssa Bastos being underestimated heading into ONE Fight Night 24?
Danielle Kelly is undoubtedly the biggest female superstar in ONE Championship's expansion into submission grappling. Furthermore, the reigning atomweight submission grappling world champion is unbeaten through four matches, including wins against Mariia Molchanova, Ayaka Miura, and Jessa Khan.
It's difficult for many fans to see Kelly losing due to her impressive performances thus far. With that said, Mayssa Bastos is a 9x BJJ world champion who's proven to be one of the best female jiu-jitsu competitors on the planet.
Kelly remains confident in her skills, but she can't overlook the always dangerous Bastos. If fans underestimate Bastos, they could be in for a surprise as a new atomweight grappling queen might be crowned before the end of Friday's event.
