Michael Bisping shoots down idea of Islam Makhachev being too strong for Alexander Volkanovski

Michael Bisping sounded off on the notion that Alexander Volkanovski is too small to compete at lightweight as he attempts to become a two-division champion at UFC 284.

Bisping uploaded a video to his YouTube channel where he analyzed the upcoming superfight between Volkanovski and reigning lightweight champion Islam Makhachev. He mentioned that 'Volk' isn't necessarily small and believes his body is naturally bigger than when he cuts to 145lbs.

He said:

"Islam's {Makhachev} the bigger guy; 5' 10" versus 5' 6". He's more than likely, in his opinion, going to be stronger because he looks at {Alexander} Volkanovski as the smaller man. But Volkanovski used to weigh 220lbs...is only jumping up 10lbs. His body naturally wants to be bigger." {1:06 - 1:23}

Bisping then brought up that 'Volk' will have the striking advantage, which is why the lightweight champion will need to ensure he's successful with his takedowns. He mentioned that although Makhachev has great wrestling abilities, the featherweight champion will be difficult to take down, saying:

"Can Islam {Makhachev} take him down? {Alexander} Volkanovski's got the lower center of gravity. He's gonna be strong I believe. Just as strong probably as Islam. It's gonna be a sensational fight. This really could go either way." [5:50 - 6:02]

The highly anticipated superfight will take place next Saturday at UFC 284 in Perth, Australia. Volkanovski will have the home crowd in his favor as he looks to join Conor McGregor as a reigning featherweight champion to simultaneously hold a championship in two different weight classes.

Michael Bisping is enjoying Power Slap

Dana White's new slap-fighting league, Power Slap, as well as other leagues, has been heavily criticized for its brutal knockouts and low pay for its fighters. Despite the criticism, Michael Bisping has enjoyed Power Slap.

During his appearance on episode #223 of TimboSugarShow, 'The Count' mentioned that he has enjoyed his time calling the slap fights for Power Slap. He also said that he's been surprised by both the intensity and power of the strikes.

The UFC Hall of Famer said:

"I didn't realize how hard some of these people slap. And some of the women as well. They are hard-slapping b**ches! They could f**king really slap." [1:12:52 - 1:12:10]

The former UFC middleweight champion and TUF winner also mentioned that Power Slap is expected to schedule a pay-per-view event once their inaugural season concludes.
