Michael Chandler shares piece of advice to Bellator star wanting "respect"
Michael Chandler has offered some insights to a Bellator standout who feels like he is not getting a commensurate amount of acclaim from the MMA world.
The advice was imparted to someone who has captured grand prix, interim, and lineal titles under the Bellator MMA banner while boasting a 19-1 pro record.
Patchy Mix is the individual in question and he is actually lined up for a fight set to go down later today.
As of this writing, Mix still has yet to defend his Bellator bantamweight title but he will be fighting later on in a headline attraction. 'No Love' looks to make the first defense of his lineal Bellator title in a rematch against Magomed Magomedov which is set to go down in Paris, France.
In an excerpt from a pre-fight interview with MMA Junkie, Mix stated:
"I could go down as the best bantamweight champion in Bellator history. But for some reason, I can't get the respect that [Sean] O'Malley has. Even though he's 18-1 and less than me in record and finishes, it seems I can't really get the respect."
Michael Chandler offered his insights on this matter when he commented on the post:
"There's only one way to get the respect you want: leave Bellator, go to the UFC, win fights, get the respect. @patchymix."

Michael Chandler's Bellator legacy and his place in the UFC today
The 38-year-old is in a unique position to offer Mix insights on this matter as Chandler carved out his name within Bellator MMA before embarking on his transition to the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Michael Chandler cemented himself as a three-time Bellator lightweight champion and had fights within that company that stand as all-time classics in the history of mixed martial arts, namely the high-octane Eddie Alvarez series.
Though he recorded wins over the aforementioned Alvarez, Benson Henderson, and Patricky Pitbull to name a few, Chandler's notoriety would blow up when he transferred to the octagon.
The native of Missouri made his UFC debut at UFC 257 with a first-round KO over Dan Hooker. He has since gone on to contend for the UFC lightweight title and has only fought former lineal as well as interim champions at 155 pounds.
'Iron' will continue that trend in June and will do so by fighting the biggest name the sport has. Michael Chandler will collide in a pay-per-view headliner against Conor McGregor at UFC 303 as the Irish superstar returns to the sport after nearly three years outside of the cage.
