Michael 'Venom' Page names ex-UFC champion as next preferred opponent, outlines potential return timeline
Michael 'Venom' Page has named an ex-UFC champion as his potential next opponent and outlined when he plans to return to the octagon.
'MVP' had a debut to remember in the UFC back in March when he faced Kevin Holland, coming away with a unanimous decision win. He has since suffered his first loss in the promotion, however, coming up short against Ian Garry at UFC 303.
The Irishman had promised fans he would dominate Page on the feet but instead opted to use a wrestling and grappling-heavy approach after the British fighter showed early signs of danger with his striking.
Despite the loss, Page is still confident he's going to reach the top of the welterweight division. The 37-year-old recently took part in an interview with Michael Bisping, where he was asked what his plans are after this bump in the road.
Michael 'Venom' Page' responded by stating that all it takes is one win to jump back into the title picture and his eyes on a clash against former 170-pound champion Kamaru Usman before the end of 2024. He said:
"I still feel like I hold weight, people are still excited to see me fight. For while that is there, it's one small win and I'm back in the same coversation again. I would still go for somebody like Usman, he's No.1 ranked. The reason I keep saying this is because he doesn't seem to be in line for a fight... If he is going to be staying in the division then why not... End of the year, give me a little time to prep properly so September/November."

Michael 'Venom' Page vows to improve following UFC 303 loss to Ian Garry
Michael 'Venom' Page has assured fans he's going to use his latest setback to improve as a fighter after he came up short in a close bout against Ian Garry at UFC 303.
Page's defeat means he is now 1-1 after his first two outings in the UFC, and it is his first loss since he suffered a controversial split-decision draw to Logan Storley while competing in Bellator in 2022.
Following the defeat to Garry, 'MVP' shared a post on Instagram. In the caption, Page wrote that this loss is a "signal" he must rebuild to achieve his goals:
"When defeat comes, accept it as a signal that your plans are not sound, rebuild those plans, and set sail once more toward your coveted goal. #UFC303"
