Middleweight contender labels Paulo Costa as "Dillon Danis of UFC" in response to the Brazilian's recent callout
UFC middleweight contender Paulo Costa has recently gained a reputation as an internet sensation. While some of his MMA peers and fight fans appreciate Costa's unfiltered views and caustic comments about the latest developments in the sport, others find them offensive.
The Brazilian hasn't fought since his unanimous decision victory over Luke Rockhold at UFC 278. Costa was scheduled to take on Robert Whittaker at UFC 284 earlier this year. However, he contested the announcement of the bout, stating that he never signed a bout agreement. The fight subsequently fell apart.
Middleweight contenders Paulo Costa and Sean Strickland have recently been engaging in some online banter. Both fighters have expressed an interest in fighting one another. Both Strickland and Costa stand out as unusual figures on the UFC roster for their unique personalities, so a fight between the two would undoubtedly garner attention.
Strickland recently made a comparison between Costa and Dillon Danis. Danis is among the most reviled figures in the sport today and 'Tarzan' referenced the polarizing grappler in response to a recent call-out from 'Borrachinha', writing:
"@BorrachinhaMMA [Paulo Costa] is becoming the @dillondanis of UFC........"

Paulo Costa claims that the UFC denied his request to fight Sean Strickland multiple times
Following the announcement of the fight against Robert Whittaker at UFC 284, Paulo Costa slammed the UFC and his current contract with the promotion, revealing that he hasn't signed on to fight 'The Reaper'.
'Borrachinha' revealed the unsatisfactory pay of his current deal and expressed a desire to switch to boxing once his contract expires.
Top-ranked middleweight contenders Costa and Sean Strickland have been teasing a fight against one another for quite some time now. The fight promises to be exciting, and the Brazilian has been trying to bring it together, but the UFC has denied his requests.
According to Costa, the UFC does not want to schedule a bout wherein he would have an easy route to victory. The Brazilian recently tweeted:
"We’re trying so hard to fight you [[Strickland] but UFC thinks he’s easy fight. As you know I’m in last fight of the contract, so they want someone to beat me Hunter doubts you can. I suggest you try to convince, he thinks you’re not tough enough. I' ll be praying for this alahshalah. And shut up mtfk."
