Mike Perry backed to win against Conor McGregor by Khabib Nurmagomedov and Nate Diaz's former UFC opponent in new fight promotion
Mike Perry has ventured into fight promotion with the launch of Dirty Boxing Championship, a hybrid combat sport blending elements of MMA, Muay Thai, and traditional boxing. Introduced in July, the promotion is a collaboration with former Karate Combat president Adam Kovacs and Kanpai Media’s Josh McLean.
On a recent episode of Perry’s Overdogs Podcast, former UFC fighter Michael Johnson weighed in on a hypothetical matchup between Perry and Conor McGregor under Dirty Boxing Championship rules.
Johnson backed Perry to win, citing the unique style of the promotion:
"I'm gonna go with Mike Perry, not even because we're doing the interview… When the fight happens, you know, Conor ain't trying to fight that close like.”
Johnson referenced the close-quarters exchanges encouraged by the smaller five-ounce gloves and the 18-foot vintage boxing ring used in the promotion.
Dirty Boxing Championship's rules prohibit grappling and kicks but allow ground and pound, elbows, and open-palm strikes, creating a dynamic and aggressive format.
Regular bouts will span three three-minute rounds, with championship fights extending to five rounds.

Conor McGregor recently teased Nate Diaz mega-trilogy in social media post
Conor McGregor is hinting at a blockbuster return to combat sports.
Just a day after revealing plans to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition, the former UFC double champion teased a long-awaited trilogy fight with Nate Diaz.
McGregor recently shared on social media that he’s reached preliminary agreements for a bout against Paul, organized by the Ambani family in India:
"The rumors of a bout with topurio [Topuria] are false. I am in preliminary agreements with the Ambani family to face Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition in India. I have agreed. I will then seek my return to the Octagon."
In a follow-up post, McGregor reignited speculation about a third fight with Diaz, sharing a nostalgic clip from their first fight's iconic callout and writing:
"And straight away the fight was made. 145lb World Champion up to 170lb. Let’s go! #RealFightersOnly."
