Mike Perry dismisses being "fired" from BKFC by Conor McGregor after Jake Paul fight: "He's my employee"

Mike Perry recently dismissed the notion that Conor McGregor fired him from BKFC following his boxing match against Jake Paul. 'Platinum' faced off against Paul in a 10-round cruiserweight bout on July 20 in Florida.

Unfortunately for Perry, the bout did not go in his favor; he was knocked down three times and eventually lost by TKO in the sixth round.

Adding to Perry’s woes, BKFC part-owner McGregor quickly took to X to announce, "You're fired," seemingly removing the former UFC welterweight fighter from the bare-knuckle promotion. 'The Notorious' didn't stop there and further ridiculed Perry's newly launched hybrid boxing venture, Dirty Boxing Championship.

At the post-fight press conference, Perry refuted McGregor’s assertions, stating that the Irishman doesn't have the authority to fire him, given that he also holds part ownership in BKFC.

During a recent episode of his OverDogs Podcast, 'Platinum' fired back at McGregor and asserted that he has a greater stake in BKFC compared to the former UFC two-division champion:

"Well, thanks, bro. I don't really want to fight right now. My rib hurts! I don't really want to f**king fight, so thanks for the time off. I'll tell you what, when people want to watch BKFC again, they’ll be calling me. They're already calling me, but I'm not taking calls at this time... He’s my employee!"

Since departing from the UFC in April 2021, Perry has quickly risen to become the premier attraction in BKFC. He boasts an undefeated 5-0 record, with victories over notable names such as Luke Rockhold and Eddie Alvarez.

When Joe Rogan explored the idea of a potential Conor McGregor vs. Mike Perry bare-knuckle match

During a June 2023 episode of the JRE MMA Show, with Mike Perry as the guest, Joe Rogan discussed the prospect of a bare-knuckle fight between Platinum and Conor McGregor.

The veteran UFC commentator highlighted the immense hype such a matchup would generate:

"If he [McGregor] decided to do that. If somehow or another they [UFC] gave him the green light to do that, I can’t imagine how that could ever happen, but if it did. If that happened in a bare-knuckle fight, that would be f**king bananas."

Rogan added:

"He can do everything, but if, somehow or another, he agreed to fight bare-knuckle, I mean, Jesus Christ, do you know how big that would be? That would be wild. If they did that in bare-knuckle, it would get a million pay-per-view buys at least. Probably more."

'The Notorious' made an unannounced appearance at the BKFC 41 event in April 2023. He even entered the ring to have a friendly staredown with Perry, who had achieved a second-round TKO victory over Luke Rockhold in the main event.
