Mike Perry explains why he would be a "devastating" matchup for Jake PaulĀ

Former UFC welterweight Mike Perry has compared himself to Mike Tyson whilst discussing a potential boxing bout against Jake Paul.

Perry last appeared for the UFC in 2021, when he lost to Daniel Rodriguez via unanimous decision. 'Platinum' left the organization while on a torrid 1-4 skid, which wasn't reflective of his fan popularity.

After leaving the UFC, it was announced that Mike Perry had signed for the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC). The 31-year-old has fought twice for the organization, winning both of his bouts via decision. Notably, the second fight was against Bellator's Michael 'Venom' Page, with Perry stunning fans by getting the majority decision victory.

In his post-fight speech, he called out Jake Paul:

Mike Perry was the latest guest on Brendan Schaub's Food Truck Diaries. On the show, 'Platinum' discussed Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva and made a bold claim in regards to his chances against 'The Problem Child':

"The way I fight, I'm kind of like Mike Tyson. I go for it, I go in, I slip-off, I slip and rip. I try to hit you with devastating shots and devastating areas. Absolutely, [I can beat Jake Paul]... My pressure never stops...I can beat him."

Mike Perry explains why he declined training with Khamzat Chimaev in Chechnya

Mike Perry recently had to explain his decision to decline UFC welterweight Khamzat Chimaev's invitation to Chechnya to train together.

According to Perry, he was under the impression that visiting Chechnya isn't exactly allowed, especially considering Russia's invasion of Ukraine. 'Platinum' added that he was appreciative of the offer and praised Chechnya for being the birthplace of many great UFC fighters.

In a recent interview with Helen Yee, the 31-year-old said:

"He told me to come to Chechnya when I was in Russia. I was like, 'Yeah, I'm probably not going to make it bro.' I heard that's no man's land... shouldn't go there. "

Mike Perry continued:

"I mean, that's a cool rumor that it's so dangerous that you shouldn't go there and it's probably got some nice views. But I've heard Chechnya is pretty dangerous and maybe that's why Khamzat's so dangerous... and a lot of the other Russian fighters [are dangerous too]."

In the same interview, Perry also revealed that he'd be open to a return to the UFC. The 31-year-old believes he has matured whilst outside the organization and would even be willing to step into the octagon to face Khamzat Chimaev on his return.
