Mike Perry reveals he wasn’t drug-tested before Jake Paul fight; speculates on if Mike Tyson will be allowed to take PEDs due to age
Mike Tyson's return to professional boxing will come against none other than Jake Paul, a pair of names that would not have been heard in the same sentence ten years ago. The duo will do battle on Nov. 15 at the AT&T Stadium in Texas in a highly anticipated affair.
But with a 31-year age gap between them, questions have been raised about whether or not 'Iron Mike' would be allowed to take any performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs) given him being 58 years old.
Sean O'Malley's longtime coach, Tim Welch, discussed the idea of Tyson being on PEDs during a recent interview with Mike Perry. 'Platinum' was Paul's last boxing opponent, with the pair clashing on Jul. 20. Welch said:
"I mean at 58 years old now, I'm so curious, and the lifestyle that [Tyson] lived, I wonder what his testosterone levels are."
Perry made an interesting revelation that he had not been tested ahead of his fight with 'The Problem Child', as he said:
"When I fought Jake, I was undefeated, 6-0 as far as the last three years. Then I fought Jake, it was the first time I hadn't been drug-tested. They tested me for all my fights, except for the Jake Paul fight. No excuses, I spar and train with people that are on the juice. They didn't test me at a fight of that magnitude against a fighter as important as Jake Paul is to the system they've got... I was surprised to not get tested."
