Mike Perry suggests ex-UFC title challenger as Jake Paul's next boxing opponent: "My brother would put a whooping on Jake"

Mike Perry has suggested that Jake Paul should consider a former UFC title challenger as his next opponent. Additionally, Perry indicated that he himself would sign up to fight anyone in a street-fight scenario rather than a professional boxing matchup.

Perry's most recent sanctioned combat sports contest witnessed him compete in his second-ever pro boxing match. He replaced the legendary Mike Tyson to face YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul on short notice on July 20. Paul stopped 'Platinum' via sixth-round TKO.

Paul subsequently faced former undisputed heavyweight champion boxer, 58-year-old Tyson, on Nov. 15. Although he beat Tyson via unanimous decision, many condemned him due to the glaring age differential and 'Iron Mike's' litany of health setbacks.

On The Ariel Helwani Show, BKFC staple and ex-UFC welterweight Perry recently discussed various topics, including the inaugural Dirty Boxing Championship event that transpired on Nov. 23.

It was headlined by Olympic wrestler and multi-time UFC middleweight title challenger Yoel Romero, who scored a terrifying knockout against Power Slap competitor Duane Crespo.

Perry indicated that he'd like to redeem himself after his defeat against Paul. The 33-year-old hinted at potentially fighting in January 2025. Incidentally, BKFC: KnuckleMania 5 is booked for Jan. 25, 2025.

'Platinum' seemingly jibed at Paul, who's long been criticized for boxing against opponents who aren't full-time boxers, are smaller or are way past their athletic prime. Proposing that Paul could fight the 47-year-old Cuban combatant Romero, Dirty Boxing co-founder Perry stated:

"If it's a street matchup, if it's a bar brawl, sign me up, man. Put me in there, and I'm ready to get wild. And I want to redeem myself, anyways, in combat sports on the side of fighting as I move on to promotership. You know, so that I'm good on both sides of that.
"And it was incredible seeing someone like Yoel. You know, how is that guy 234 pounds? We were like, the same size. And he's just so solid. And I think, you know, he's the age that Jake would like to try. I think that's a possible matchup they should possibly make, man, with Yoel Romero versus Jake Paul. And my brother, 'mi hermano' Joey [Yoel Romero], would put a whooping on Jake for me."

Yoel Romero has called out Jake Paul

Speaking of Mike Perry seemingly proposing a Jake Paul vs. Yoel Romero boxing match, Paul allegedly turned down a fight against Romero in 2020.

Romero has now taken to X to challenge Paul to a fight under the hybrid-rules Dirty Boxing banner. After his victory at Dirty Boxing 1, 'Soldier of God' wrote on X:

"Hey @jakepaul you want to get ditty? @DirtyBoxing_ @PlatinumPerry"

Paul, who's fresh off his victory over Mike Tyson, recently put forth an X post wherein he teased that a possible fight announcement could be on the horizon.
