"Mike Perry is a zebra" - Theo Von leaves Joe Rogan in stitches with hilarious 23andMe joke about 'Platinum's' infamous "2% African" claim

Mike Perry once claimed to be two percent African after an ancestry test allegedly implied as much. This topic was brought up by Theo Von and Joe Rogan on episode #2253 of The Joe Rogan Experience, during which the two comedians briefly addressed Perry's claim.

However, a specific joke from Von left Rogan incapable of containing his laughter. As the pair conversed about 23andMe, which allows people to get a genetic blueprint of their ancestry, Von brought up Perry's claim that he is two percent African, saying the following:

"Mike Perry. I ain't gonna tell him he ain't [2% African]. I'll tell Mike Perry's a zebra if he wants to."

Despite the lack of success he found at the higher level of the UFC, Perry quickly became a fan-favorite due to his outlandish sense of humor and unique personality. He didn't take himself too seriously, which proved occasionally detrimental for him.

Moreover, his claim about being two percent African has led to various memes on MMA social media. The legendary 'Three Kings' era, which saw Francis Ngannou, Kamaru Usman, and Israel Adesanya all become the first UFC African champions in history, became the subject of Perry memes.

Fans would often Photoshop images of Perry onto a group photo of Ngannou, Usman, and Adesanya, listing him as the fourth king, despite his lack of a UFC championship. Unfortunately, while he was once an undefeated knockout artist, Perry soon found himself on an immense rough patch before leaving the UFC.

Mike Perry has become a BKFC star

After struggling to find success as a UFC fighter, Mike Perry abandoned MMA altogether, instead plying his trade in the BKFC as a bare-knuckle boxer. In a stunning twist, he not only authored a still undefeated streak of five consecutive wins, he has also become the de facto face of the promotion.

The surge in his popularity has led to the renewal of his popularity among combat sports fans, and even landed him a boxing match with Jake Paul, which 'Platinum' lost in lopsided fashion.
