Boxing legend Mike Tyson has been reported to have experienced an in-flight "medical emergency" ahead of his much-hyped comeback fight against Jake Paul on July 20. The news of the medical mishap generated widespread concern for the 57-year-old formerly retired boxing icon.
The report said:
"Mike Tyson reportedly suffered a “medical emergency” while boarding a plane last night".
The report finished with:
“Before paramedics arrived, an announcement asking for a doctor and a message came on the screens... The flight took off two hours late but it is unclear if Tyson was on it, per Mirror Fighting."
It was later reported that Tyson 'is doing great' and no additional concern is necessary about his health and well-being.
Mike Tyson's representative sets record straight on rumored 'medical scare'
In an interview with MMA Fighting, Mike Tyson's representative straightened out any speculation on the severity of his recent medical emergency, saying:
"Thankfully, Mr. Tyson is doing great. He became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare up 30 minutes before landing. He is appreciative to the medical staff that were there to help him."
The representative also corrected the reason why there was a two-hour delay on the plane's take-off:
"However, it's false reporting that his medical attention caused the flight delay. this two-hour delay was due to an air conditioning issue on the aircraft."

Tyson will come out of a 19-year retirement to fight his first pro fight since losing to Kevin McBride back in 2005. He briefly came out of retirement in 2020 to face fellow legend Roy Jones Jr. in an exhibition bout, which resulted in a draw.
The now-57-year-old boxer will face rising influencer boxing star Paul, who is 27 years old and boasts a 9-1 pro record.
The bout generated much criticism from fans, fighters, and the media for the 30-year age gap between the fighters and Tyson's long years of inactivity, despite being one of the best in history.
