Mikey Musumeci emerges as an overwhelming favorite against Gabriel Sousa ahead of ONE 167 grudge match
Six wins with four submissions in the world's largest martial arts organization are good enough credentials for fans to pick reigning ONE flyweight submission grappling world champion Mikey Musumeci over his upcoming opponent Gabriel Sousa.
Musumeci and Sousa will lock horns on June 7 as part of the stacked ONE 167 card inside the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand. ONE Championship made a poll via Instagram Story, and the result was recently published with the caption:
"BOILING 🔥 Will 'Darth Rigatoni' score redemption, or will Gabriel Sousa come out on top in their bantamweight submission grappling rematch at ONE 167 on @primevideo? @mikeymusumeci @gabrielsousabjj"
81 percent of the fans are forecasting another 'Darth Rigatoni' victory and for him to avenge his loss against his former Brazilian tormentor, who drew first blood via submission during their first meeting in 2021 at Who's Number One.
Meanwhile, 19 percent of the voting fans are siding with Sousa and are expecting him to reassert his mastery over Musumeci. This is going to be his promotional debut for ONE Championship.
Mikey Musumeci will have a different approach in his upcoming showdown with Gabriel Sousa
Musumeci is known to be an all-smile guy who competes with no grudges against his opponents, as he knows that it is all part of the sport. However, the Evolve MMA athlete is taking a different route this time by doing the complete opposite.
The 27-year-old American superstar was seen wearing a more serious and savage look ahead of his rerun with Sousa under the brighter lights of the global stage. Musumeci is also encouraging his haters and skeptics to doubt him on fight night and root for his opponent.
ONE 167 is available live and free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America in U.S. primetime on June 7. The card goes down inside the Impact Arena in Bangkok, Thailand.
