Mikey Musumeci does a Lionel Messi with his belt ahead of ONE Fight Night 10
It's safe to say that ONE submission grappling world champion Mikey Musumeci is married to his job. One must do as such to achieve the level of success 'Darth Rigatoni' has at such an early stage of his career. With the credentials he's already achieved at such a young age, sky's the limit for the 26-year-old BJJ wizard.
When we say "married for his job," we mean it in an almost literal way. Mikey Musumeci has gone on record to say that he trains multiple times a day, every day. No rest days. Such a near-obsessive dedication to his craft makes 'Darth Rigatoni' near-unbeatable.
He even jokingly slept with his ONE Championship world title with him in bed, ala Lionel Messi, when he won the World Cup trophy:
"Only 34 more sleeps until I defend my ONE World Title 😴 #ONEFightNight10"
In less than a month, at ONE Fight Night 10, Mikey Musumeci will make the second defense of his world title. Across the Circle from him might be Musumeci's most frightening test in ONE Championship yet. On May 5th Musuemci will lock horns with Yemen's first-ever BJJ blackbelt, Osamah Almarwai.
Almarwai, who goes by 'Osa' to his fans, is a former IBJJF Pan No-Gi champion, American Nationals No-Gi champion, and IBJJF No-GI world champion. He trains at the famous Atos BJJ gym in San Diego, California, alongside ONE grappling stars Tye Ruotolo and ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion Kade Ruotolo.
In his most recent performance, Mikey Musumeci defended his throne by absolutely destroying the legs of Gantumur Bayanduuren en route to a unanimous decision win. Meanwhile, Osamah Almarwai is on a 6-fight unbeaten streak and is looking to extend it by winning a world title in his ONE Championship debut.
ONE Fight Night 10 goes down on May 5 at the 1stBank Center in Colorado. The entire card is available live and for free to all Prime Video subscribers in North America.
