Mikey Musumeci proud to execute his game plan to perfection vs Osamah Almarwai
Mikey Musumeci executed his game plan to perfection in his latest ONE world title defense against IBJJF world champion Osamah Almarwai.
‘Darth Rigatoni’ delivered another show-stealing performance at ONE Fight Night 10 in the ‘Mile High City’, scoring a brilliant rear-naked choke submission to retain the ONE flyweight submission grappling world title. Speaking with the Jiu-Jitsu Times following his impressive victory, Mikey Musumeci revealed that the way things panned out was exactly as he intended.
“My goal was to attack his feet and knees during the first two to three minutes, then sweep, and do literally the exact sequence I did to find the choke from the back,” Musumeci revealed. “That was literally my game plan, that exact sweep, and everything.”
With the victory over Osamah Almarwai, Mikey Musumeci continued his undefeated run inside the Circle and earned his second-straight ONE world title defense. The five-time IBJFF world champion will now turn his attention towards a potential submission superfight with reigning ONE flyweight world champion, Demetrious Johnson.
The two flyweight superstars have previously expressed an interest in competing against one another. Currently, ‘Mighty Mouse’ is considering whether or not his combat sports career will come to an end following his unanimous decision victory over Adriano Moraes at ONE Fight Night 10. Should Demetrious Johnson continue competing, he may end up standing across from Mikey Musumeci inside the Circle.
