Mikey Musumeci renews call to face Demetrious Johnson in a grappling match on a U.S. card in ONE

Grappling star Mikey Musumeci picked up another impressive victory at ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video, and he still yearns for the opportunity to share the circle with MMA icon Demetrious 'Mighty Mouse' Johnson.

'Darth Rigatoni' earned a unanimous decision win over Gantumur Bayanduuren, marking his first flyweight submission grappling title defense.

After the result, Mikey Musumeci spoke with reporters about the prospect of grappling against 'Mighty Mouse'. He said in the post-fight interview:

"Yeah. Definitely 'Mighty Mouse' in the future and hopefully on [a] U.S. card."

Johnson is scheduled to headline ONE's first-ever event in the United States this May alongside Adriano Moraes. The 26-year-old grappler wants to bring more mainstream attention to the sport by sharing the circle with Johnson.

Mikey Musumeci gives props to Gantumur Bayanduuren for his toughness

Musumeci impressed yet again in his third ONE Championship appearance, despite not scoring a submission. The New Jersey native locked in a vicious leg lock that would've made most men tap, but not Bayanduuren.

After the match, 'Darth Rigatoni' spoke about his opponent's toughness and unwillingness to quit:

“I don't know, how do I shut my mind from doing a submission when it's like popping someone's limb? I wasn't being stubborn this time. Like it actually was popping. Like if it wasn't popping and it's like, ‘Okay.’ But I felt it kept breaking. So I feel like I wasn't being as stubborn as I usually am but I still didn't do it enough. What a tough opponent. What a warrior he is for breaking his leg for no reason.”

The flyweight submission grappling champ is bringing tons of eyes to the sport through his memorable performances and inviting personality. He along with Danielle Kelly and the Ruotolo brothers are doing wonders for the sport.

Musumeci now owns victories over globally recognized names like Masakazu Imanari and Cleber Sousa. The champ's limits are boundless.
