“Mindset to compete is incredible” - Andre Galvao stacks praise on Tye Ruotolo’s will to win

Tye Ruotolo's mindset is second to none.

That comes according to legendary BJJ coach and co-founder of Atos Jiu-Jitsu, Andre Galvao. Having worked with Tye Ruotolo and his twin brother, Kade Ruotolo, since they were very young, Galvao believes that the pair of 21-year-old grappling wizards stand above the rest.

Particularly in the case of Tye Ruotolo who has been competing at the highest possible level with the best in the world since he was a teenager.

"Tye’s mindset to compete is incredible, like look what he did at ADCC in 2019," Galvao said in an interview with FloGrappling. "The youngest guy ever fighting in ADCC fought like a man. Like a real man, you know. 16 years old, fighting and competing against the top-level guys and almost won."

Ruotolo returned to the Circle at ONE Fight Night 23 for a catchweight clash with 19-year-old debutant Jozef Chen. Though he was unable to finish his opponent, the reigning ONE welterweight submission grappling world champion was more than dominant, securing his seventh-straight win under the ONE banner and spoiling Chen's promotion's premiere.

With another win in the bag, Tye Ruotolo will turn his attention toward his brother's next matchup on martial arts' biggest global stage.

Kade Ruotolo, the reigning ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion, will put his 26 pounds of gold on the line when the promotion heads back to the United States on Friday, September 6 for ONE 168: Denver. There, Ruotolo will meet fellow ONE world champion and arguably the most innovative grappler in the game today, Mikey Musuemci.
