MMA coach Eric Nicksick discusses friendship with Belal Muhammad: "This guy works his a** off"
MMA coach Eric Nicksick recently discussed his friendship with Belal Muhammad and heaped praise on the reigning UFC welterweight champion. He disclosed that they have been friends for quite some time and complimented him on his work ethic.
The Xtreme Couture coach noted that they have a unique relationship, considering that he doesn't serve as his coach but helps him out with training from time to time. Muhammad spends time training at the gym when he is in town, and so has built a great rapport with Nicksick through their training sessions.
During his appearance on Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson's JAXXON PODCAST, the Xtreme Couture coach lavished praise on 'Remember The Name' for the dedication he puts to his training and recent welterweight title win over Leon Edwards. Nicksick mentioned that Muhammad has a great personality and that he communicated differently when offering suggestions because he isn't guiding his career like others in his gym:
"I just respect him so much for his hustle, bro. This guy works his a** off day in and day out. And then when he comes into town, man, we just hop in the lab. I just been a friend to him. The nice part about it is I can be open and honest with him because it's not like as a coach and I'm not trying to like, guide him into whatever direction. He performed great against [Edwards]. I think he's gonna be a problem for the division for a while."

Eric Nicksick describes Belal Muhammad's effective wrestling against Leon Edwards
Eric Nicksick provided an in-depth breakdown of Belal Muhammad's effective wrestling against Leon Edwards, which saw him earn a unanimous decision to become the new UFC welterweight champion.
During Muhammad's appearance on his Verse Us podcast, Nicksick mentioned that he was effective with a commitment to continuous wrestling rather than planting his feet and attempting another takedown:
"You never penetrated, stopped your feet, waited a second and then try to continue wrestling. The wrestling was all continuous. The moment you penetrated, you use the carom of the cage to bounce [Edwards], lift him, drag him then rechain and do whatever, so the wrestling was always on point."
