MMA pioneer leaves Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson in splits after disclosing why he wore a black Gi at UFC 8

An MMA pioneer recently left Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson in splits after explaining why he wore a Gi during UFC 8. He noted that it was due to something he noticed from the previous events, which made for a hilarious reaction from the former light heavyweight champion.

Canadian MMA pioneer Gary Goodridge made both his MMA and promotional debut during the one-night tournament and made a statement with his memorable 13-second knockout over Paul Herrera. After a win over Jerry Bohlander, 'Big Daddy' advanced to the finals, where he lost to Don Frye via TKO.

During his appearance on 'Rampage's JAXXON PODCAST, 'Big Daddy' clarified that he never fought or had a martial arts background prior to his MMA debut. In fact, the Canadian was a respected arm wrestling champion prior to his MMA career, which doesn't require a Gi.

Goodridge disclosed to Jackson that he wore it because of what Hall of Famer Royce Gracie accomplished during the first UFC tournaments:

"Royce Gracie would beat people in a Gi. What the hell was wrong with me? He wore a white Gi, I want a black Gi...Yeah, why can't I do it?"

"[My friends] called [the UFC's] ad that night. They gave me the phone when they got a hold of Art Davie and he said, 'Is this Gary Goodridge?' I said, 'Yeah'. He said, 'I saw you arm wrestling that big behemoth...and you spoke well. UFC has got a place for you'. Next day, somebody is calling me [for UFC 8]."
