MMA veteran John Lineker says he'd love to compete in grappling after Muay Thai transition at ONE 168
MMA veteran John Lineker says he would also love to compete in submission grappling after making his Muay Thai debut at ONE 168.
'Hands of Stone' has been feeling motivated as of late to test his skills in nearly every sport under ONE Championship.
On September 6, Lineker won't be competing in mixed martial arts. Instead, he's on his way towards a Muay Thai banger against one of America's best strikers, 'The American Ninja' Asa Ten Pow, inside the bright lights of the Ball Arena in Colorado.
But before jumping into action next week, Lineker says he also has his sights on submission grappling and mixed rules bouts as well. Speaking to ONE, he explained:
"I don't intend to move to Muay Thai, but I want to continue doing these special ONE fights. Now, I am going to fight in Muay Thai. But who knows, maybe later I'll fight in the submission grappling division or do a super-fight with special rules."
Submission grappling should be an easy transition for John Lineker. While he prefers to striker, Lineker also has a brown belt in BJJ so he definitely has the ability to put on a show for the crowd.
Muay Thai might be a little different in terms of rules, but Lineker is notoriously known for having hands made of stone. His legendary striking will once again be the highlight of his Muay Thai matchup with 34-year-old Asa Ten Pow.
Tickets for ONE 168: Denver are available via Ticketmaster.
"What a fight!" - MMA fans are mesmerized by John Lineker's insane durability and concussive punching power
As mentioned above, John Lineker is widely known for his knockout ability. But more than that, he's always willing to put on a good brawl.
Take, for instance, his MMA barnburner against Kevin Belingon at Inside the Matrix III. They both traded shots with the sole intention of finding the knockout.
But Lineker's pressure, speed, and power were too much for Belingon to handle. The Filipino stalwart got KO'd in the second round.
