“Mom, I’m a professional fighter” - Dricus du Plessis shares details about his mother’s “unprofessional” response to MMA hate comments
Dricus du Plessis recently revealed how his mother reacts to the online comments against him. Du Plessis does a good job of playing with his rivals' minds before stepping into the cage with them. The UFC 297 and UFC 305 pre-event press conferences displayed how he mentally tormented Sean Strickland and Israel Adesanya before defeating them inside the octagon.
Du Plessis got Strickland enraged at the pre-UFC 297 press conference with a few scathing comments about his late father. He also made Adesanya break down in tears at the pre-UFC 305 press conference.
But Du Plessis's often villainous nature also earns him quite some hate on social media platforms, and his mother doesn't take too kindly to the ones bashing him. He appeared on the latest episode of Breakfast with Martin Bester on Jacaranda FM, where he said:
"She got so angry at the Strickland saga when we had the thing in the crowd [UFC 296 scuffle with Sean Strickland] and at everything that was said. Every American fan, they hate losing, and they go, ‘No, he [Strickland] won the [controversial UFC 297] fight, it was a robbery’, and she gets angry at it… [Once] I see my mom commented, and it happens all the time."
Strickland also mentioned that he consoles her by making her understand that it's all part of his profession. 'Stillknocks' said:
"Me and my mum have to talk about this once a week, ‘Mom, I’m a professional fighter’, you can’t say, ‘Don’t you dare say that about my son [to the fans]’ on Facebook, it’s really unprofessional, I think."

Dricus du Plessis also follows his mother's approach but in a more collected manner
Dricus du Plessis often takes matters into his own hands like his mother when it comes to schooling his haters on social media. However, the current UFC middleweight champion takes a more calculated approach instead of getting offended like his mother.
The latest X update from the South African had him presenting his reasons for accepting a rematch against Sean Strickland as his next encounter over Khamzat Chimaev. Du Plessis penned:
"Just for clarification I preferred the Khamzat fight but the rematch is a fight most wanted before Khamzat vs Withaker. I’m not unhappy with the UFC’s decision like I said I’ll fight the man fans think is the next best guy he was promised the fight so Strickland it is."
But a number of his haters bashed him in the comments section of the post. Du Plessis ignored many of them, but he also schooled some with a few scathing replies. One such fan wrote:
"You will loose the belt sooner."
Dricus du Plessis scorched the fan, saying:
"You will learn English sooner too🤣"
