“Muay Thai has always been a part of my life” - Striking prodigy Johan Ghazali says he was born for ‘The Art of Eight Limbs’
For as long as he can remember, teen phenom Johan Ghazali has been training Muay Thai.
At just 17 years old, 'Jojo' is perhaps the most exciting prospect in the art of eight limbs today. Currently, Ghazali has 30 career fights to his credit and an undefeated record of 5-0 inside the Circle with all, but one of those victories coming by way of knockout.
On Friday, June 7, he'll look to score win number six inside the Circle when he squares off with Vietnamese standout Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat at ONE 167.
During a recent appearance on the 4oz to Freedom podcast, Johan Ghazali spoke about his history in the sport and the role his father played in his development from student to budding superstar.
“Muay Thai has always been a part of my life," Ghazali said. "My dad always grew up teaching me the basics, and slowly we started to get serious with it. For as long as I remember, not only Muay Thai but fighting, and all martial arts have been a part of my life since I can remember.”
Johan Ghazali determined to keep his 'O' intact against Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat
After a series of impressive victories on the ONE Friday Fights series inside the legendary Lumpinee Boxing Stadium, Johan Ghazali made his Amazon Prime Video debut at ONE Fight Night 17, securing a sensational 36-second knockout against Edgar Tabares.
Clearly ready for a step up in competition, 'Jojo' will get exactly that at ONE 167 against Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat.
Making his fourth appearance for the promotion, 'No.1' holds a pair of impressive back-to-back knockouts against Azwan Che Wil and Yuta Watanabe. However, he recently suffered his first setback in the Circle, going down in the second round against 'The Bosnian Menace' Denis Puric.
He'll look to bounce back by ending the undefeated stream of 'Jojo' on martial arts' biggest global stage.
Will Ghazali leave The Land of Smiles with his 'O' intact, or will 'No.1' climb back into the win column with a big win over the Malaysian-American?
ONE Championship fans in the United States and Canada can watch ONE 167 live and for free via Amazon Prime Video in U.S. primetime on Friday, June 7.
