Muay Thai icon Liam Harrison on his reputation as an all-time great in the UK: “No one has got the resume I’ve got”
With more than 100 fights on his resume and scraps with some of the biggest names in the art of eight limbs, Liam Harrison's reputation as an all-time great in the UK is well deserved.
It's been more than two years since the 'Hitman' has stepped foot inside the ONE Championship Circle. This Friday night, September 6, that streak comes to an end as Harrison straps on the four-ounce gloves for a highly anticipated clash with Thai icon Seksan Or Kwanmuang at ONE 168: Denver.
Before going into his first fight since undergoing extensive knee surgery last year, Liam Harrison shared some things about his status as one of the UK's most beloved and accomplished combat sports stars.
"The first time I ever fought an elite-level operator was when I was 18 years old. I'm 38 now. You won't find anyone in the UK who's been doing it anywhere close or as long."
He added:
"Absolutely no one has the resume I’ve got. And it's not like I've just been fighting once or twice a year. I've had 118 fights, I've been doing it regularly, you know what I mean?"
Liam Harrison faces a tough test in his return at ONE 168: Denver
Coming back from a horrific knee injury against former ONE world champion Nong-O Hama, Liam Harrison wasn't interested in any tune-up fight. Instead, the 'Hitman' is going right for one of the biggest fishes in the pond when he meets 'The Man Who Yields To No One' in The Centennial State.
Storming onto the scene in ONE Championship last year, Seksan quickly made waves by earning an incredible eight-straight wins in a calendar year, including highlight-reel knockouts against Sean Clancy and Isaac Arayo.
Overall, Seksan has more than 200 career wins to his credit, but a victory over Harrison could very well be his biggest W yet—not to mention it could put him in line for his first shot at 26 pounds of ONE gold.
Who comes out on top when two of the most exciting strikers in all of Muay Thai collide on martial arts' biggest global stage?
ONE 168: Denver will air live on Amazon Prime Video in U.S. primetime in both the United States and Canada on Friday, September 6. Follow this link for tickets to attend the event live at Ball Arena.
