"My dad thought it looked fun" - Smilla Sundell found a new sport to beat everyone at
Reigning and undisputed ONE women's strawweight Muay Thai world champion 'The Hurricane' Smilla Sundell of Sweden is one of the most dominant female Muay Thai fighters in the world.
At the tender age of 19, she has already achieved much in her fighting career, more than any girl her age. But that hasn't stopped 'The Hurricane' from challenging herself in other ways and other sports.
Speaking to Calf Kick Sports in a recent interview, Sundell shared that she has actually found a new sport to beat everyone at -- the humble marathon.
'The Hurricane' said:
"I didn't train for the marathon. My dad thought it looked fun. It was on three days' notice, I think. He said, 'Oh, you run every day, you can do that'. This was after the Jackie Buntan fight. Just keep running, you know?"
Sundell ended up finishing the marathon and enjoying herself in the process. And she's looking forward to going back home to do it again and trying to beat her personal best.
'The Hurricane' added:
"I would do it [again]. That's why I want to come home in June. They have a Swedish marathon on June 1st. I want to try again and see if I can beat the time. [Last time], I finished it in four hours and twenty minutes."

Sundell will defend her ONE women's strawweight Muay Thai world title against Russia's 'Karelian Lynx' Natalia Diachkova in the main event of ONE Fight Night 22: Sundell vs. Diachkova on Prime Video.
The event broadcasts live from the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
