“My family’s also very happy” - John Lineker on cloud nine after collecting back-to-back $50,000 performance bonuses
Former ONE bantamweight MMA world champion and new Muay Thai fighter 'Hands of Stone' John Lineker of Brazil is on top of the world following a pair of explosive knockout victories in 'the art of eight limbs'.
Not only did he take out 'The American Ninja' Asa Ten Pow at ONE 168: Denver by second-round knockout last September, he came back to Muay Thai to dispatch hard-hitting Alexey Balyko of Russia at ONE Fight Night 25 on Prime Video just last week.
Both wins netted him $50,000 performance bonuses, which he says has been huge for his family.
Speaking to veteran reporter Nick Atkin of Bangkok Post, Lineker talked about what the bonus money means to him.
'Hands of Stone' said:
"I’m very happy, my family’s also very happy, that’s why I work so hard for them as well so that we are all happy. First of all, I’d like to say thank you to God and thanks to everyone, and tell my family that I am coming back."
ONE Fight Night 25: Nicolas vs. Eersel II on Prime Video took place live from the historic Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand last Saturday, October 5, 2024.
Fans in the United States and Canada can catch all the action via replay on-demand with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription.
What's next for 'Hands of Stone' John Lineker?
'Hands of Stone' John Lineker has been having an absolute blast as a Muay Thai fighter. But the 34-year-old veteran says he is still very much fixated on resuming his stellar mixed martial arts career.
Although he would accept a showdown with Muay Thai icon 'The Iron Man' Rodtang Jitmuangnon in a heartbeat, Lineker says he is also looking for one more crack at bantamweight MMA gold against bitter rival 'Wonder Boy' Fabricio Andrade.
He told Nick Atkin:
"If that [fight vs Rodtang] doesn’t happen I’m happy to go back to MMA and maybe a trilogy for the belt again."
