“My focus is on Adriano” - Danny Kingad maintains he isn’t thinking about title shot heading into ONE 169

Former ONE world title challenger and current third-ranked ONE Championship flyweight MMA contender 'The King' Danny Kingad of the Philippines is still after winning the coveted gold, although he isn't thinking about that right now.

Not wanting to look past dangerous next opponent, former flyweight MMA king himself, 'Mikinho' Adriano Moraes, Kingad is focused on achieving victory in the highly anticipated rematch.

Speaking to ONE Championship in a recent interview, Kingad says he's looking forward to making a statement against Moraes, beating the Brazilian dynamo once and for all, and then calling for a shot at the now vacant flyweight MMA throne.

The Lions Nation MMA representative said:

"Right now, my focus is on Adriano. If I get the chance to compete for the title, I’ll be ready and willing. Why not? But for now, there’s no belt on the line, and that’s fine. I still have a score to settle with Adriano. And if I win this, it’ll make my case for a title shot undeniable."

Kingad last met Moraes at ONE: Legends of the World in Nov. 2017. It was his first shot at the ONE flyweight MMA belt, and the Filipino lost via first-round submission.

Now, 'The King' is looking to get that one back and even the score against 'Mikinho'.

'The King' Danny Kingad returns to face 'Mikinho' Adriano Moraes in rematch at ONE 169: Atlanta

Filipino flyweight MMA standout 'The King' Danny Kingad is looking to tie rival 'Mikinho' Adriano Moraes, as the two meet in the Circle once more with heavy world title implications.

Now that Demetrious Johnson has retired, the flyweight MMA throne needs a new occupant and both Kingad and Moraes want to fill that gap. However, they have to get past each other to put themselves in the best position to earn a shot at the gold.

Kingad and Moraes lock horns at ONE 169: Atlanta, which broadcasts live from the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia on Friday, Nov. 8.
