"My overall skills have improved tenfold" - Jacob Smith confident he's upgraded his arsenal by miles for Rodtang rematchÂ
Jacob Smith is confident that he's got all the tools in his arsenal now to make his fight against Rodtang Jitmuangnon a real dogfight.
The British star has a daunting task ahead of him at ONE 169, in the shape of a rematch between 'The Iron Man' Rodtang Jitmuangnon for the ONE flyweight Muay Thai world title.
In their first encounter two years ago, Smith suffered a bad loss against his Thai rival upon entering the ONE rankings. Although he proved his durability and overall toughness, Smith was severely outmatched.
This time, however, Jacob Smith believes that the outcome will be different. In an interview with ONE Championship, he said:
"I can do everything better now. I'm better in every way. I'm as tough as I always have been, but my fight IQ is better and my overall skills have improved tenfold."
Jacob Smith has had three fights within the last two years inside the Muay Thai ring. His second fight against MMA and Muay Thai sensation Walter Goncalves spoke for itself. Goncalves only lasted until mid-round with the British spitfire because Smith overwhelmingly attacked from all angles.
In his third fight against Denis Puric, Smith illustrated the same tenacity but fell short to 'The Bosnian Menace' by controversial decision after three rounds of pure action. Now, he's got a chance to redeem himself on the global stage on Nov. 8.
"Let's go get it lad" - Jacob Smith gets the fans all fired up for his second encounter with 'The Iron Man'
Jacob Smith is ready to hand Rodtang his first-ever Muay Thai world title loss this November at ONE 169.
If there's one thing that the Birkenhead native looks forward to doing in every match, it's to draw some serious blood. Whether you like the guy or not, Smith has never put on a dull fight. He's not afraid to take a punch as long as he's got one heading the opposite direction.
This week, he riled up the fans with a throwback clip of his KO victory over Walter Goncalves with the caption on Instagram that read:
"2 weeks there will be a new king."
