"My wife don't even text me like that" - Max Holloway sounds off on Ilia Topuria for sending lengthy "angry girlfriend text" on social media
Former UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway was left in shock after champion Ilia Topuria reached out to him over text.
Holloway and Topuria have engaged in verbal spats ever since Holloway's thrilling win in the BMF title match against Justin Gaethje at UFC 300. 'Blessed' called out the Spaniard and the two traded Bible verses on X in their follow-up posts.
During his recent appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, Holloway detailed his experience interacting with Topuria to Joe Rogan. He mentioned that Topuria sent him long texts and likened them to an angry girlfriend's texts. He said:
"This is the guy we're dealing with bro. So we had a bible verse-off on Twitter. Everybody’s saying 10-8 Holloway cause of the verse I used against him and I don't say nothing, that's all I said. And he writes like a freaking paragraph to me. I didn't even read it, that's how long it was. He writes a paragraph to me and I was just tripping out. It was like an angry girlfriend text, you know. Like my wife don't even text me like that."
Holloway mentioned that he made an attempt to read the text from Topuria but was shocked at its sheer length. He added:
"So I read the first sentences, I was like, I’m not reading this bro. What the hell is wrong with you? I don’t know what’s going on. I read the first two – and then I saw you had to scroll – I was like did I make my wife mad? I had to make sure that wasn't her, you know, what the hell!"

Max Holloway wants to fight Ilia Topuria at the Allegiant Stadium
Max Holloway wants to take on Ilia Topuria at the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
During his appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience, Holloway suggested the 65,000-capacity stadium as a potential venue for a possible featherweight title clash. 'Blessed' is currently ranked No.2 in the division and unless Alexander Volkanovski rematches Topuria, he could be the next challenger. He said:
"I hope Vegas... Or Vegas, Allegiant Stadium, 66,000 [fans in attendance]. Brother, that's what it is. You was there [UFC] 300 night. Did you not see all the Hawaiian flags [at UFC 300]? That is the ninth island, brother. We can't go to UFC Hawaii, give me Allegiant Stadium and let's go crazy."
The Allegiant Stadium is home to the Las Vegas Raiders of the National Football League and would comfortably surpass the record for the highest attendance at a UFC event.
