Nate Diaz's teammate Chris Avila urges UFC fighters to get out of their contracts after defeating Doctor Mike on Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva undercard
Nate Diaz's longtime teammate Chris Avila registered a dominant unanimous decision win over 'Doctor Mike' Varshavski on the Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva undercard. Avila, who's previously competed in the UFC and Bellator, urged UFC fighters to get out of their contracts in his post-fight interview. The 29-year-old said:
"All you UFC fighters out there that are locked in your contract, get out and come get you some. Get you some real sh*t right here."
Diaz recently exhausted his UFC contract with a submission win over Tony Ferguson at UFC 279. The Stockton slugger had long been trying to get out of the promotion and hinted at a move to boxing in the future.
Meanwhile, Avila put the pressure on 'Doctor Mike' from the very beginning, who kept trying to work behind the jab. Varshavski's punches lacked enough power to worry the longtime combat sports athlete who kept throwing haymakers. Avila even managed to drop his opponent with an overhand right but was unable to finish him.
Mike Perry invited Nate Diaz to jump him whilst attending Chris Avila fight
Nate Diaz has been alongside Chris Avila going into his bout against Dr. Mike Varshavski, a 32-year-old family physician of YouTube fame. Former UFC fighter Mike Perry was aware that the Stockton native would be supporting his teammate Avila at the Desert Diamond Arena on fight night as well.
Perry, who was also in attendance at the Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva card, invited Diaz to jump him at the event. Taking a dig at Diaz's vegan lifestyle, 'Platinum' said in an interview with The Schmo:
"I mean, he [Nate Diaz] said he'd like a real fight, that could be a real fight. Hi Nate, what's up bro? Maybe I'll see you tonight. I'll say what's up. You guys can jump me. I'm down... We can have some fun and have some drinks. I don't know if you drink...if they have vegan tequila. It's whatever, man... I'm down."
