Fans can't make up their mind about Marlon Vera's new "McGregor-esque" tattoo

Marlon Vera has unveiled his new nape tattoo and UFC Twitter had some spicy takes.

'Chito' is covered in ink and it's no surprise that he's adding more to the collection. However, UFC fans on social media couldn't wrap their heads around the fighter's decision to have the new tattoo inked on the back of his head.

The design portrays a traditional-style panther with sharp claws that look like they're piercing through Vera's skin. Although the design is a common one, people just can't get over the fact that it's placed on a weird part of the body.

@btsportufc Never understand how some ppl with money get the worst tattoo artists to do their work
@btsportufc Bro…not hating but WHY???
@btsportufc Sucks
@btsportufc it looks like a high school logo 😭
@btsportufc Proper 2000s tattoo. Usually on a fat blokes calf
@btsportufc I like it, but would have picked somewhere less, head like. Like my thigh.
@btsportufc Oh geez
@btsportufc One positive for it is he can't see it... So, yeah πŸ‘

However, there are also those who admire 'Chito's' bold choice. Being one of the most unique individuals in the UFC, it's only fitting that Vera has an unusual form of self-expression.

One commenter even compared his design to Conor McGregor's prominent chest piece of a gorilla. They wrote:

"Very McGregor-esque. Looks like same artist as Gorilla Tat."
@btsportufc Very McGregor-esque. Looks like same artist as Gorilla Tat
@btsportufc New character skin unlocked, nice

Sean O'Malley suggests interim title fight with Marlon Vera

Sean O'Malley skyrocketed to the number one spot in the UFC bantamweight rankings after beating Petr Yan.

'Sugar' could be next in line for a championship bout against Aljamain Sterling. However, the UFC bantamweight champ revealed that he's going to take time off after his recent title defense against T.J. Dillashaw at UFC 280. With that in mind, O'Malley revealed that he wouldn't mind fighting for an interim title for the time being.

Who does O'Malley have in mind for a potential opponent? None other than his old foe Marlon Vera. On his YouTube channel, the top-ranked UFC bantamweight said:

"I get it, Aljo cuts a lot of weight. He’s probably already back up to 165,170, he’s probably like, β€˜I don’t want to cut weight again in the next couple of months, I want to enjoy it.’ … He wants to wait eight months. I get it, I do, but say the No. 1 contender, β€˜Suga’ Sean O’Malley is ready to go in March, and the next guy in line, in my opinion, should be β€˜Chito’ [Marlon Vera]. He just beat Dominick Cruz, beat Frankie Edgar, beat some good guys."

Vera handed O'Malley his first loss at UFC 252 in 2020. However, the win was hollow in the eyes of many as O'Malley suffered a rare injury during the fight that caused his leg to stop functioning. Given how things are going, it wouldn't be a surprise if the two men end up meeting inside the octagon for bigger stakes.
