Nina-Marie Daniele breathes sigh of relief as Israel Adesanya avoids retirement after UFC 305 loss to Dricus Du Plessis: "The story continues"
Nina-Marie Daniele reacted to Israel Adesanya deciding not to retire after losing in the UFC 305 main event.
At UFC 305, Adesanya attempted to regain the middleweight world title against Dricus Du Plessis. 'Stillknocks' had won the first two rounds, but 'The Last Stylebender' started arguably taking over. However, Du Plessis shut down Adesanya's momentum in round four and locked in a rear-naked choke to retain his throne.
Adesanya has solidified his legacy as one of the greatest middleweights of all time. Therefore, some people questioned if he would retire following a loss at UFC 305, as his next fight would be his first non-title 185-pound bout since February 2019.
Shortly after his defeat, Adesanya confirmed that he won't be retiring. Thereafter, Daniele took to her Instagram story and posted the following message about the UFC 305 main event result and aftermath:
"All respect. Two great warriors! Respect is the root of Mix Martial Arts. What a scary and beautiful sport. The story continues. Also, thank God Izzy didnt retire tn. You trolls wouldn't know what else to do with your time if he did. Congratulations Dricus."
Du Plessis' win against Israel Adesanya was the latest step in his surprising UFC tenure. The reigning middleweight king holds a promotional record of 8-0, with six wins inside the distance, including three fights against former world champions (Robert Whittaker, Sean Strickland, and Adesanya).
Who could Israel Adesanya fight next?
Israel Adesanya's next opponent is unclear, as he'll likely have to wait for the result of Robert Whittaker vs Khamzat Chimaev. 'The Last Stylebender' might face the loser of the top contender matchup or can be pitted up against Sean Strickland depending on who receives the next 185-pound title shot.
There's also a chance that Adesanya makes a second attempt at light heavyweight. This time, the former middleweight king could endure an extended layoff and prepare his body, which he didn't do last time against Jan Blachowicz.
Meanwhile, there are many options for Dricus du Plessis. Dana White has announced he will face Strickland, but the result of Whittaker vs Chimaev could change those plans. Light heavyweight king Alex Pereira has also thrown his name in the mix to challenge Du Plessis next.
