Nina-Marie Daniele comments on Chris Weidman's career as the former champ announces retirement
Media personality Nina-Marie Daniele looked back on former UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman's career as he announced his retirement from the sport. Weidman made his UFC debut in 2011 and fought in the promotion for fourteen years.
'The All American' won 12 UFC fights, most notably making history when he ended Anderson Silva's 16-fight win streak by knocking him out cold at UFC 162 to collect the middleweight championship. The 40-year-old made three defenses of his title against Silva, Lyoto Machida and Vitor Belfort.
Weidman went on a difficult run after losing the title to Luke Rockhold in 2015, winning just three fights since. He also suffered a broken leg against Uriah Hall in 2021.
Thanking the New York native for his services and accomplishments inside the octagon, the UFC posted a tribute video on Instagram:
"What a career! 👏🏆 Congrats to @ChrisWeidman on everything he accomplished in the Octagon!"
Reacting to the post, popular MMA media personality Daniele dropped a comment congratulating Weidman on his incredible career. She wrote:
"Huge congratulations @chrisweidman Epic career! Enjoy your career"

When Nina-Marie Daniele wanted to see Alex Pereira vs. Israel Adesanya for the third time in the UFC
Israel Adesanya and Alex Pereira's rivalry started way back in 2016 and the pair have gone on to fight each other four times since then, twice in the UFC and twice in kickboxing.
Adesanya faced Pereira for the first time at Glory of Heroes 1 and suffered a unanimous decision defeat. After a year, the pair locked horns again, with Pereira winning via KO.
At UFC 281, the pair fought for the first time under the UFC banner, with 'The Stylebender' defending his title against "Poatan." After dominating the early rounds, Adesanya was caught by in the fifth, resulting in a TKO loss. Adesanya would get his revenge at UFC 287, where he rendered Pereira unconscious.
Reacting to a post from Full Violence on Instagram regarding the rivalry between the two, Daniele commented:
"Hope they do another fight at LHW! One of the best UFC rivalries!"
