"No one cares about the respect of cowards" - Umar Nurmagomedov snaps back at Merab Dvalishivili's "liar" jab as social media feud intensifies
UFC bantamweight Umar Nurmagomedov is not holding back in his ongoing heated feud with divisional champion Merab Dvalishvili. Their feud began after Nurmagomedov accused Dvalishvili of avoiding a fight with the Russian.
This didn't sit well with the Georgian fighter, who claimed the Dagestani was a "liar" and demanded to see the contract that the UFC had supposedly sent the surging contender.
'The Machine' took to X, responding to allegations of avoiding a clash with Nurmagomedov, and clarified he accepted the fight with 'Young Eagle' despite going through a hand injury:
"Umar Now not only are you disrespectful , you are a liar. If UFC offered you to fight with me 2 times - show the fans the contract and the dates. They offered me to fight you right after I beat Petr Yan with a broken hand in 6 weeks. I accepted the fight verbally even though I was no. 1 contender and you were no. 13 rank and even with broken hand. Ultimately the doctor said no to this and I had surgery. "
Dvalishvili further wrote:
"So lets see the contract of the second offering??!!! So if the UFC is gifting you the title defense - wtf are you talking trash and with disrespect? I'm done with you now because you keep lying - you lost my respect as a man and a martial artist. I will wait to hear from the UFC."

'Young Eagle' snapped back, casting doubt on Dvalishvili's injury and claiming it didn't bother him when he accepted the Sandhagen fight. The Dagestani further asserted that the champion's respect is worthless, labeling him a "coward."
"Is that the same injury you were ready to fight Cory with? I am just basing this on the manager’s words . Since prehistoric times no one cares about the respect of cowards."
Dvalishvili dominantly defeated Sean O'Malley at Noche UFC 306 for the bantamweight championship, extending his winning streak to fifteen. 'The Machine' has called out 'Sugar' to a rematch despite deserving contenders waiting in line, leading some to believe the champion is ducking worthy opponents.
Among them is Umar Nurmagomedov, who has alleged that the 33-year-old is avoiding him because he knows what the outcome of their clash would be. 'Young Eagle' is undefeated in his career (18-0-0) and has unofficially been confirmed a title shot after he beat 'The Sandman' via unanimous decision at UFC Abu Dhabi in August.
Umar Nurmagomedov scoffs at Merab Dvalishvili calling for rematch with Sean O'Malley
Surging contender Umar Nurmagomedov seems determined to get the title shot. After beating Sandhagen last month, the Dagestani fighter is certain he's next in line for the 135-pound title.
Therefore, he couldn't hold his laughter when the recently crowned champion called Sean O'Malley for a rematch instead of defending his throne against up-and-coming prospects.
'Young Eagle' took to X to claim the champion is ducking him:
"He ready to fight with anyone except Umar Nurmagomedov"
