ONE 168: Mikey Musumeci reveals the crazy long hours he spends in preparation for Kade Ruotolo showdown

Grappling wizard Mikey Musumeci is currently heading into the final preparation stage before he challenges ONE lightweight submission grappling world champion Kade Ruotolo for his title at ONE 168: Denver on Sept. 6.

'Darth Rigatoni' has spent his days training in Las Vegas, where he sharpened his world-class submission skills in his home garage gym and at Faito Tamashii Combat Club.

When he is out of Vegas, Musumeci trains in Los Angeles under all-time BJJ great Rubens “Cobrinha” Charles. Additionally, he alternated between hard training sessions, strength-and-conditioning, as well as detailed film study.

Speaking to ONE Championship in a recent interview, he shared his intense schedule ahead of the much awaited lightweight submission grappling showdown between two exciting world champions in this generation.

Musumeci said:

“It’d be about 10 to 12 hours total of the amount of work I’m putting in on these days of studying, training, everything.”

ONE 168: Denver will be airing live in U.S. primetime and free to all Amazon Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada. Also, get the tickets via this link.

Mikey Musumeci leans on Kennedy Maciel to simulate Kade Ruotolo

Mikey Musumeci is probably heading into the biggest fight in his submission grappling career when he faces Kade Ruotolo at ONE 168: Denver.

Musumeci will climb several weight classes up to match with Ruotolo for the ONE lightweight submission grappling world title.

As both grapplers are known for their unique styles, non-stop submission hunting and high-level grappling IQ, there should be no surprise that 'Darth Rigatoni' is leaving no stones unturned in his practice sessions.

The 28-year-old is leaning into decorated grappler Kennedy Maciel and his father 'Cobrinha', as he told ONE Championship in the same interview.

Mikey Musumeci said:

"On Thursdays and Fridays, Kennedy and I go to war. We freaking kill each other. We do three hours of training, just me and him, and 'Cobrinha' supervising. But it's basically 10-minute rounds of us trying to kill each other, figuring new things out."
