ONE 168 results: Adrian Lee vs. Nico Cornejo

Adrian Lee returned to the Circle on Friday night for a scrap with ONE Championship newcomer Nico Cornejo at ONE 168: Denver.

After a successful debut at ONE 167 in June, Lee headed to The Mile High City eager to add another win to his resume. Standing in his way was Pueblo, Colorado native Nico Cornejo, who made his promotional debut following back-to-back knockouts on the regional scene last year.

Round 1: Lee comes out aggressive early, racing across the Circle and quickly climbing onto Cornejo’s back. Lee gets in the hooks and begins to flatten out Cornejo while dropping bombs from the top. Cornejo remains calm and continues to move but nearly gets caught in a rear-naked choke. Cornejo works his way out, but Cornejo gets flattened out and eats a few more strikes to the side of the head.

Lee again goes for the RNC, but Cornejo fights his way out. Lee is doing an excellent job of positioning himself against the fence, preventing Cornejo from using the cage to wall walk. As Cornejo again attempts to improve his position, Lee cinches his arm under the chin and locks in a rear-naked choke.

This time, Cornejo can’t fight his way out of it, and he has no choice but to tap out in the opening round.

With the win, Adrian Lee moves to 2-0 in his mixed martial arts career with back-to-back finishes via rear-naked choke. Lee also scored himself a $50,000 bonus for his finish from ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong.

Lee now has two wins and two 50k bonuses. Asked what he’s going to do with this one, Lee said he’s gonna go buy himself some pizza.
