“One of the best feelings in the world” - Former flyweight MMA king Adriano Moraes glad to return to the win column at ONE 169

Adriano Moraes once again proved that he's as deadly as ever when he returned to the ring at ONE 169.

The former ONE flyweight MMA world champion scored a sublime submission finish over familiar foe Danny Kingad at ONE 169 this past weekend at the historic Lumpinee Stadium.

Taking to Instagram following his win, Moraes said he was over the moon after his victorious return and is looking to restart his quest to get back to the world title picture.

Adriano Moraes wrote:

"What a joy to be able to win again in MMA, without a doubt one of the best feelings in the world!! I want to thank my team @americantopteam, all the coaches, and training partners. My family, my friends and fans."

Moraes is the number one ranked flyweight MMA contender in ONE Championship, and his win over the number three Kingad pushed him closer to a shot at the gold he once held.

Typical of his previous performances in the promotion, Moraes was calculated in his approach and waited for the right moment to trap Kingad in a tight guillotine choke to secure the submission finish over the Filipino star.

Moraes is now 2-0 in his head-to-head matchup against Kingad after he submitted 'The King' in their November 2017 matchup for the ONE flyweight MMA world title.

The free and on-demand replay of ONE 169 is available for Prime Video subscribers in the United States and Canada.

Adriano Moraes says his submission win over Danny Kingad was a show of force of what he's capable of

Adriano Moraes knows he can still be the top dog in ONE Championship's flyweight MMA division.

In an interview with Nick Atkin for Bangkok Post, Moraes said he's determined to capture the ONE flyweight MMA world title that archrival Demetrious Johnson vacated due to retirement.

He added that his surgical finish of Danny Kingad was proof of how lethal he is once he steps between the ropes.

Moraes said:

"For sure, [fights] for the ONE flyweight world championship belt is a thing that motivates me a lot because I just want to show my skills, I just want to show that I am one of the best athletes in the world. Please don’t take me out. I’m one of the best flyweights in the world."
