“One of the biggest wins” - Multi-time BJJ world champion Mayssa Bastos says title win over Danielle Kelly among her best
Already achieving a lifetime's worth of accomplishments, Mayssa Bastos bagged one of her biggest at ONE Fight Night 24.
Emanating from the legendary Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Bastos made her sophomore appearance for the promotion, challenging Danielle Kelly for the ONE atomweight submission grappling world championship. After 10 entertaining rounds of back-and-forth action, Bastos was crowned the victory via unanimous decision.
With the win, Bastos became just the second woman in ONE history to hold the atomweight strap and the first Brazilian-born submission grappling champion in ONE history.
Appearing at the ONE Fight Night 24 post-fight press conference, Bastos dubbed her win over Kelly as one of the most notable victories in her illustrious career.
"One of the biggest wins for sure," Bastos said with a smile. "Yes."
Before wrapping 26 pounds of ONE gold around her waist, Bastos topped the podium at some of the biggest BJJ tournaments around the world, including the IBJJ European, Pans, and World Championships.

In addition to leaving The Land of Smiles with a shiny new world championship, Mayssa Bastos also bagged a $50,000 bonus for her performance, courtesy of ONE Championship CEO Chatri Sityodtong.
"I'm really happy. I was glad I was able to [put on] a good performance, and besides winning the title, with the bonus. Yeah, really happy."
What's next for Bastos remains to be seen, but the Brazilian grappling wizard has no intention of sitting back and enjoying the fruits of her labor for long. Instead, she'll look to get right back to work, taking on anyone the promotion chooses to put in front of her.
"Right now, I don't have anyone in mind. But anyone who wants to fight me, I would be happy to fight."
