ONE CEO surprised with Chingiz Allazov’s performance against Superbon
Chingiz Allazov impressed everyone in the combat sports community with his incredible second-round knockout of Superbon Singha Mawynn at ONE Fight Night 6 on Prime Video.
Allazov captured the promotion’s featherweight kickboxing world championship after delivering the performance of a lifetime against one of the pound-for-pound greatest kickboxers in the history of the sport.
Sitting Circleside for the main event mayhem was ONE CEO Chatri Sityodtong, who shared his thoughts on the jaw-dropping finish with the South China Morning Post.
“I don’t know if you noticed it, he would change angles, he would change levels, he would change up, he would throw a question mark kick, he just did a lot of weird things that he’s never really done before. So I think after the first round, I think I might have said to whoever was next to me that ‘Hey man if this goes on further, the fight’s gonna end.’”
The ONE CEO continued, saying:
“He’s too fast and he has no pattern for recognition. He wasn’t throwing any repeat patterns that Superbon could pick up on so then I was like ‘Wow, this is a really new and improved Chingiz.’”
In addition to becoming ONE world champion, Chingiz Allazov pocketed a $50,000 bonus for his picture-perfect performance against the Thai superstar.
Demetrious Johnson was impressed with Chingiz Allazov’s performance against Superbon
It’s no easy task impressing a living legend like ONE flyweight world champion Demetrious Johnson, but Chingiz Allazov did exactly that with his brutal knockout of Superbon earlier this month.
In an interview with SCMP MMA, ‘Mighty Mouse’ complimented Allazov’s performance, saying:
"It was absolutely amazing. Going into the fight, Mitch [Chilson] was like ‘Chingiz has never been in a five-round fight.' And I was like, 'Gentlemen, he looks shredded and he looks ready to go.'... The biggest thing going into that fight, watching all his fights in the World Grand Prix, the biggest thing he does so well is he’s putting pressure on his opponents. He’s always mixing it up with punches and kicks."
Now the undisputed king of kickboxing, Chingiz Allazov is already looking for his first world title challenger with names like Sitthichai Sitsonpeenong, Giorgio Petrosyan, and Marat Grigorian immediately coming to mind. Who would you like to see challenge Allazov for his ONE world title?
